used since the pharaohs' time to modern day. This introductory hands-on
experience will show you the steps of working wool into usable yarn.
Washing, carding, drop spindling and treadle wheel spinning will all be

Students will design and create their own period-correct hunting pouch.
The finished project will be approx. 7" x 7" in size and may have gusset,

common to the fur trappers, hunters and pioneers of the early 19th
century. Hands-on activities such as loading and firing a flintlock rifle,
setting traps and snares, fishing with a hand line, building primitive shelters
and starting a fire with flint and steel. Live for a day like a frontiersman.
Participants will get a flint and steel kit, lunch and lots of knowledge. Ages
13 and older. Advanced registration required. Fee $135, or $125 for
members.
