I've been busy getting more events listed, so check to see if yours is here yet.

We only have a few more weeks before I want to print the winter/ spring edition. If your event
from Ohio or one of the neighboring states isn't listed on the website, it won't be included in
the print version. Email me soon!

There are
two websites for National Rendezvous and Living History Foundation events
linked to this site for you to check out. Just click the buttons above to connect.

The first one is information on the
Old Northwest Territory Primitive Rendezvous June
24-July 2
at Caesar's Creek Pioneer Village, Waynesville, Ohio. I'm the scribe for that event,
and we have some great plans! So please make your calendar or send in your registration
now. We're gonna have a great time!

The second one is information on the
Midwest Primitive Rendezvous Aug. 6-13 at Fort La
Motte, Palestine, Ill. For people in the Ohio area, this is a close location for the Midwest. It's
just west of the Indiana line, and provided a great chance for you to check it out. I plan to
attend. Hope to see you there!

Just a short note ... I'm looking forward to the Greene County Fall Rendezvous at Greene
County Fish & Game near Xenia, Ohio, this weekend.

I updated advertising information for 2011. The first deadline is Oct. 31. Please
more information.

The weather was excellent for the fall Oak Ridge Festival last weekend, which is kind of
unusual. Very little wind, except for Friday. Had a great time meeting new people and talking
with old friends!

I'm taking this weekend to do a family activity, and then it's on to Greene Co. Fall
Rendezvous near Xenia, Ohio, the last weekend in October. And then the Fall Gathering at
Caesar's Creek Pioneer Village near Waynesville, Ohio, rounds out the season.

And a note about a new event:
"Anyone interested in coming to a hillbilly jamboree next year in Smithmill, Pa., June 24-26
should contact Cathy at squaw1954@aol.com. We are just now setting things in motion for
next year and would love to have anyone who would like to come from your group to show
the old ways. We will also probably have Wills Mountain Renegades of the Civil War with us.
It will be held at Mountz Memorial Park."

Oct. 8, 2010

Fall is flying by quickly ... I had a phenomenal time at the Eastern Primitive Rendezvous.
There are no words to describe it. Thanks to the staff for doing a great job!

If you haven't attended an Eastern, you should consider going. In September 2011, EPR is
in Virginia. Join us there if you can. If you'd rather stay closer to home, EPR 2012 is going to
be near Troy, Ohio. Plan now to be there! I'm the scribe for 2012 so stay tuned for more
details.

Passing along a note from Jeff and Dee Keefe:
"
Wanted to invite everyone out to the Harvest Moon Rendezvous Oct. 8, 9 and 10. It's been
rumored that there will not be any shooting events. Wanted to clear that up and let everyone
know that there WILL BE rifle, smoothbore and pistol matches along with knife and hawk,
archery and fire starting!  Looking forward to a great event.

If you've got questions, contact us anytime. ... 740-281-0430 or bhawk55@roadrunner.com.

I got a request via Facebook from Loren Hughes of Kings Forge and Muzzleloading for
people who might be interested in operating their own living history business at the
American Revolutionary War Living History Experience in the Carolinas.

Loren says, "I am the Armorer for the ARWLHC and we are actively looking for people that
would like to own their own business in the Center. We are hoping to have the center up
and running by next year in the Carolinas and both states are vying for the Center to be in
their state. All we are sure of at the moment is that it will be in the Kings Mountain area."

Sept. 22, 2010

I'm off to the Eastern Thursday morning ... or maybe Friday morning. At least that's the plan.
Please stop by and say hello. My Rendezvous Ohio sign will be in front of my lodge.

Just to let you know ... If I'm not there it's because my husband's son was in a bad accident
early Tuesday morning and has some serious injuries. His condition will determine when -
and if - I can attend.

The last two weekends were full of good times and many friends. It was good to see you
all.I was at Pioneer Days at Bellevue, Ohio's Historic Lyme Village Sept. 9-12 and at
Tiffin-Seneca Heritage Festival Sept. 16-19.

Sept. 9, 2010

I kicked off my fall season at camp last weekend at the Piqua Heritage Festival. What a
great time! It was good to meet all the new people ...

This weekend I'm heading up to Bellevue, Ohio, for Pioneer Days at Historic Lyme Village. If
you can't join us, come in for a walk-through.

The fall print issue is finished! Look for it at the next event you attend. If you can't find a copy,
let me know. Maybe I need a distributor in your area.

Aug. 22, 2010

Hello everyone! This week it's time for school to start for the new year. That means it's time
for me to write my annual letter to the principals requesting all the days off my kids need to
partake in living history events. I don't know about everybody else, but my school
administration thinks it's great. I always write the letter to avoid truancy issues, and this year
I'm sending photos because they requested some last year.

I must get the fall print edition finished and ready for the printer by Monday, so I can have it
ready for you by Labor Day weekend.

Dave Martin of the Buckeye Heritage Festival, Defiance, Ohio, is looking for rendezvous
participants in next May's event. Martin, also president of the Defiance County Fair Board,
said the group has a three-year lease for the event on the fairgrounds. In it's first year this
year, he said the Native American gathering and pow-wow portion were a success, but
organizers would like to expand it into a "frontier-type rendezvous." A Boy Scout Jamoree is
also planned as part of the event. I'm not sure if he wanted me to post him email address,
so let me know if you're interested and I'll pass it along his contact info privately.

Jim and Linda Shawver and Mike and Shirley Radke have moved the Kekionga Living
History Trade Fair
to the Allen County Fairgrounds in Fort Wayne, Ind., next year. The new
dates are Feb. 12-13, 2011. There are about 150 tables or spaces available. Contact Jim at
260-493-7354, tufeathers@eawifi.com, or Mike at 260-244-5289, pottipeeper@yahoo.com.

Aug. 10, 2010

I had a wonderful time last weekend at Gnadenhutten Pioneer Days at Gnadenhutten
Museum. Our camp was on actual historical grounds - and the people there were friendly
and welcoming. And the weather even cooperated. It wasn't overly hot and humid.

This weekend I'm on my way to visit some my oldest rendezvous friends at the Seneca
Muzzleloaders Summer Rendezvous near Tiffin, Ohio. I can't wait to see them! Join us. New
friends and old friends together would be great!

July 24, 2010

My family and I returned early this morning from a beach vacation in North Carolina. Yes, it's
hot there too! But the ocean was cooold ... brrrrr!!

While there, I met a few living history people I have added as
Facebook friends. I ran across
one man.
Jon Failor, who is now manager of Island Farm on Roanoke Island. He is
originally from Mansfield, Ohio, and has family in Wood County near me. He worked for
Toledo Metroparks for a couple years as a living historian on The Volunteer canal boat at
Providence Metropark.

While in Ohio, he attended rendezvous in the area, including at Seven Eagles. He would like
to get in contact with anybody who remembers him. Contact me if you would like his contact
information, or you can find him on Facebook.

June 9, 2010

Wow! I haven't been here for a while. Busy ... busy ... busy! The event I help coordinate is
over now, so I'm back for some serious updating.

This weekend I'm heading to
Fort Ancient. I've never been there, so I'm looking forward to
meeting new people. If you see me or my "Rendezvous Ohio" sign hanging in front of my
lodge, stop by to say hello.

Reminder ... the
Old Northwest Primitive Rendezvous is June 18-26 just outside of
Spencer, Ohio.

May 18, 2010

i just picked up the summer print edition
this morning! Start looking for it at the next event
you attend. If you can't find a copy, let me know.

It was a beautiful, peaceful weekend at the Lost Arts Festival at Seven Eagles, Grand
Rapids, Ohio. Anybody who isn't doing anything the third weekend in May next year should
consider joining us!

I'm heading to a new event this weekend coming up - the Corps of Discovery at Racoon
Creek State Park, Hookstown, Pa.

I'll know a few people there, but I'm looking forward to meeting a bunch of new people.

May 3. 2010

It was another wet weekend for Ohio rendezvous, but it didn't dampen the spirits too much
at the Greene County Fish and Game Spring Rendezvous. My kids and I had a great time!

I'm not going anywhere this weekend, but I'm looking forward to the Lost Arts Festival May
14-16 at Seven Eagles Historical Education Center, Grand Rapids, Ohio. Back in its heyday,
there was a huge camp at Seven Eagles. It's not as large today, but is growing again
steadily. Come and join us!

I updated the events calendar one last time before I finish putting together the summer print
edition. Start looking for it the third week in May. There are a few more Ohio events listed,
and quite a few new ones for Indiana.

Due to popular demand, I updated the Campfire Cookin' page (finally) and put a couple
dandelion recipes on there from Peggy Dolinger's column in the winter/spring print edition.
She cooked these recipes for me and some other people at camp the last weekend in April
and they were delicious! Give them a try!

April 26, 2010

It might have been a bit wet last weekend, but we had a great time at the Seneca
Muzzleloaders Spring Rendezvous! It's always wonderful to get together with club members
I've known for a long time - especially when I hadn't talked to some of them much through
the winter.

But it's also great to get together with new friends - like I'm doing this weekend at the
Greene County Fish and Game Spring Rendezvous. Except for a very few, I've known that
group for less than a year. And a fun bunch they are!

Looking forward to it!

Dave and Shelia Guy have scheduled a
work weekend this Saturday and Sunday, May
1-2, at the Snode's Farm site of this year's Eastern
. You can help either Saturday or
Sunday or stay overnight in the barn and enjoy the whole weekend. Take along a cot or
bedroll. Lunch is provided both days and "breakfast could be cobbled up too." Saturday
supper will be at a restaurant or everybody can pitch in to order pizza and wings.

Take along chainsaws, weed whips with and without blades, shovels, sledges. They are
renting a trackhoe Saturday morning, and there are landscaping timbers to cut, downed
trees to cut up into backstops, multiflorial roses to tame, and backstops to build into the
side of the hill. If enough work gets done, there won't be another work day until the second
weekend in September.

Let Sheila know who plans to attend so she can plan for food. To let them know you can
attend, email daguyz@att.net or call 330-454-2078 or 330-904-1359.

They are still
looking for an archery captain for this year's Eastern. Anyone interested
contact them at the numbers and email above.

April 21, 2010

Wow! There are seven rendezvous and one living history and art fair this weekend. And I can
only choose one to attend.

I'm going to my club's Seneca Muzzleloaders Spring Rendezvous, but I would love to go to
them all.

A couple notes ... The Spring Ohio Flintlock and Buckskin Rendezvous is at Fort La Buse at
Buzzard's Hollow, Belleville, Ohio. That's a very new listing, so I wanted to point it out.

And there is a non-camp event in Fremont, Ind., called the New Moon Living History and Art
Faire.

*****
Thanks to everyone who sent me new events to post here. I'm now caught up - yet again.
So check the new listings. Many of the newest ones are from Indiana, Michigan and
Pennsylvania, with a few more from Ohio. If you have information on an event that isn't
listed, please let me know.

All the events I have will be listed in the summer print edition coming out in May.

If you haven't already done so,
please get any new advertisements to me as soon as
possible.
I'm going to be starting to put together the summer edition which prints in May.

Liverpool Township in northern Medina County is looking for living history groups to help
celebrate its bicentennial July 4th weekend at Mill Stream Park in Valley City, Ohio. Already
attending are a Civil War group, a flint knapper, blacksmith and candle maker. More
tradesman, craftsmen, sutlers and Native Americans are wanted. For more information, call
Tom Neff, 330-483-3736 or email Suzie Neff, SuzieNeff@zoominternet.net.

It's time to register for the first Habitat for History Day at Caesar's Creek Pioneer Village,
Waynesville, Ohio, Wayne County.
April 17 has been set aside as a work day to help with
cabin maintenance at the village. Coordinator Karen Ball said some people are planning to

April 10 is the first work day this spring for the Old Northwest. Join Gary Flegel and crew at
the 9 a.m. to assist with cutting wood at the site near Spencer, Ohio. Gary said they can use
all the help they can get. For more information, contact Gary at 330-421-7451,
oldgoat2@gmail.com, or segundo, Greg Leopold, 330-395-0581, gpleopold@earthlink.ne,

I need recipes for the
Campfire Cookin' section. If anyone has any they would like to share,
please email them to me - vicki@rendezvousohio.com. They should be recipes for cooking
over a campfire or on a brazier that anyone can try. Food-related hints also are appreciated.
Send a picture of yourself if you can. Thanks!

March 23, 2010

The Kalamazoo show was well attended Saturday - at least in my opinion. It was crowded.
There were fewer people there Sunday, but that seems to be normal for trade fairs. I had a
great time! If you haven't been there, Kalamazoo is kinda hard to describe, but it's
something you should experience ...

That was the last of the indoor events, as far as I know. April soon will be here and the start
of the spring season!! I added a few more events and I have a few more to add to the
listings, so check them out.

March 15, 2010

The Kalamazoo Living History Show this weekend is the biggest trade fair in the area. I'll be
there all day Saturday. Last year was the first time I visited the show and I was amazed by
the number of vendors and the large numbers of people who attended. I'm looking forward
to seeing friends, meeting new people and doing some shopping!

March 3, 2010

The Old Town Trade Fair in Xenia, Ohio, is promising to be a good time this weekend! I've
been in touch with lots of people through our Yahoo group and Facebook who plan to be
there. Join us! It takes place at the Greene County Fairgrounds. Hours are 9 a.m.-5 p.m.
Saturday and 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Sunday. I'll be there Saturday!

The Kekionga Trade Fair in Decatur, Ind., is March 13-14. I plan to be there Saturday. And
then it's time for Kalamazoo March 20-21.

I've added a few new events in the last couple weeks, so check them out. If you know of
anything that isn't listed yet, please let me know.

Feb. 24, 2010

Met lots of new people last weekend at the Conner Long Rifles trade fair in Noblesville, Ind.
I had not been to that event before, so I was surprised at how busy it was, especially
Saturday morning.

We gave out at least 400 copies of the print edition of Rendezvous Ohio, many to people
who hadn't seen a copy before.

If you don't have your copy of the winter/spring edition, meet me at the Old Town Trade Faire
in Xenia, Ohio, March 6-7. See ya there!

Feb. 15, 2010

I've added a few more events to the calendars here. The newest ones aren't listed in the
latest print edition, so check them out. There was a date change for a trade fair, so I want to
make sure everyone knows about it. The new date for the Living History Fair at the Historic
Old Train Depot, Pierceton, Ind., is April 10-11. For more information, please see the
listing.

Feb. 9, 2010

The snow kept me away from the Fremont trade fair Saturday, but I got there Sunday. It was
great to see everyone!

Carl "Bear" Ward suffered a house fire last week that burned most of his camp gear,
clothing, blankets, etc. The guns were safe in another part of the house, but he's working on
replacing everything else.

He, his wife and grandson all got out of the house safely because they were alerted by his
dog, Gus. Many items have been donated already by people. If you want to provide anything
that will help him get his camp back before spring, send it to: Carl Ward, P.O. Box 1752,
Piqua, OH 45356.

Feb. 1, 2010

Happy anniversary to us!

Today is the one-year anniversary of the date I first published this site. Looking back, it's
been a wonderful year! And it's been quite a learning experience.

I want to take a moment to give heartfelt thanks to all of you who have made this website
and the print edition so successful within its first year.

I never dreamed when I started this project I would call so many new people my friends in
such a short time.

Your support has  been tremendous! Thank you!!

Jan. 30, 2010

Just a quick note today ... I'm in the home stretch of putting together the winter/spring print
edition.

Looking forward to the
Living History Fair at the Sandusky County Fairgrounds, Fremont,
Ohio,
next weekend, Feb. 6-7. Hope to see you there!

Tom Stahl reports last year's Native American teaching day is expanding this year into a
Heritage Festival May 14-16, 2010, at the Defiance County Fairgrounds. He is seeking
people to attend the new event. Friday is a school day. The committee plans a community
dance on Friday night and a teen dance on Saturday, food vendors and crafters. The site
has showers, restrooms and fires must be contained in a ring. Any groups or individuals
interested in participating can contact him at thomasstahl@tds.net

Karen Ball of
Caesar's Creek Pioneer Village has scheduled an event called "Habitat for
History" April 18
. The day is set aside for interested people to get together and work on
cabin restoration at the village, similar to Habitat for Humanity projects. Volunteers are
welcome to set up their tents in the green and
stay the weekend. She is encouraging
members of nearby shooting and rendezvous clubs to take part. Ceasar's Creek Pioneer
Village is near Waynesville, Ohio, south of Dayton. Two meals will be provided Saturday. For
more information or to let her know you're planning to help, contact her at 937-269-7237,
ccpv@embarqmail.com, www.caesarscreekpioneervillage.org.

Jan. 18, 2010

I had a great time at the Sons of Liberty trade fair in Jackson, Ohio, over the weekend at
Canter's Cave 4-H Camp. Saw lots of friends and met some new ones. Great to see all of
you! If you weren't there, you might want to consider attending next year.

Special thanks to
Larry Harris, who was kind enough to pull my car out of the mud. Warm
weather was great. Next time I'll know where to park.

The next trade fair I'll be attending is the
Living History Fair in Fremont, Ohio, Feb. 6-7.
There are a few others listed on the calendar between now and then. Please check out the
dates.

Have to keep this short ... I've been working on the
winter/spring print edition, which comes
out late this month.

Jan. 1, 2010

Welcome to 2010 everyone!

My original plan to publish the winter/spring print edition has been delayed until late
January. I wanted to have it ready for the first trade fair in Jackson Jan. 16-17. But I'm still
waiting to hear back from many people on 2010 dates. I have added all the rendezvous and
trade fairs for which information has been verified. If yours isn't on here, please email me at
Vicki@RendezvousOhio.com or call me at 419-601-2495.

I also need money to print it. Anyone who wishes to buy an ad, please let me know.
