Old Northwest Territory Primitive Rendezvous June 26 - July 4, 2009
|
This year's National Rendezvous and Living History Foundation Old
Northwest will be June 26-July 4 at the Lockington Reserve in west central
Ohio, about 35 miles north of Dayton.
Affiliated with the Shelby County Park District, the 200-acre natural area
features a flood plain forest and upland woods, a 90-foot-high bluff, pine
groves, marsh areas, streams and ponds. The area remains undeveloped
because of its role as a dry storage basin for floodwaters periodically
backing up behind the Lockington Dam. The Miami Conservancy District
leases the reserve to the park district without charge.
You can enjoy a network of walking trails connecting various wildlife habitats
within the reserve. In addition, a portion of the Buckeye Trail passes through
the reserve.
A fantastic shooting competition is planned, as well as archery and hawk &
knife contests. Games for kids and adults also are planned, as well as
seminars and other competitions.
Free early set-up is available June 24-26 for campers registered by May 26.
Campers who arrive early and are not pre-registered will be charged $5/day
per adult for early set-up. Participants arriving Friday are asked to abide by
the one-hour unload rule and move their cars to the parking area.
Rendezvous rules start at 7 a.m. Saturday, June 27, and continue through
noon Saturday, July 4. Participants have one hour to set up or tear down
their camps and move their vehicles to the parking area.Campers must
abide by all other rendezvous rules as described on the NRLHF website.
The public is invited to join us 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturday, Sunday and Monday,
June 27-28-29.
